# Opt-out and targeted advertising

The CMP is a tool designed to collect and transmit your users' choices regarding the collection and use of their personal data. It does not block tags automatically; instead, it provides commands that allow you to condition their execution.

In some cases, targeted advertising scripts are automatically conditioned by the vendors, who independently monitor the signals they require to process data.

When vendors do not condition their own tags, you can do so proactively by using the CMP commands detailed in the documentation.
